Announcements:
We appreciate all the parents who have volunteered to help bring in a snack for our field trip day, we will contact those that have volunteered sometime the first week in December to let you know how you can help. Also there have been several parents ask about coming along as a chaperone. We have a very limited number of tickets given to us and will only be able to bring 1-2 parents for each class. We will probably end up picking names out of a hat to see which parents will be able to come. I'm sorry we aren't able to accommodate all the parents who would like to join.
Cold and Flu season is here. Please help remind your kids to wash their hands and try to cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze. We have bottles of hand sanitizer in our rooms for students to use too so we can try to keep the germs away.
English:
This week we are starting a new Unit. The theme of Unit 3 is creative ideas.
We are on Unit 3 Week 1. Our question of the week is, "When does support from others help with a creative idea?"
Spelling Pattern: We are working on long e vowel sound. Using e, ee, ea, y
Comprehension skill: Author's purpose. We have talked about this before, we decide if an author writes the story to entertain, or to inform. We will also be doing a fun writing assignment this week using persuasive writing.
Conventions: verbs
Math:
We are still working on money. It can be very tricky for 2nd graders to remember the differences between the coins and how much each of them are worth. Spending just a minute or two every day at home reviewing coins and counting them will help.
We will also be working on mental addition: adding tens and ones and adding on a hundred chart.
French:
This week are continuing with the /an/ /anne/ /am/ /amme/ sounds.
Science:
We will be learning about plant adaptations: the cactus.
