Announcements:
Please help your child dress appropriately for the weather. There were a lot of cold students going outside to recess today because they didn't wear any sort of jacket, and some were even in shorts and sandals. Especially as we enter into winter, please watch the weather. Students will not be allowed to stay inside from recess simply because they forgot a jacket.
Don't forget to have your students logging into Reflex Math at least 3 times a week.
English:
We on Unit 2 Week 3.
Our question of the week is "How does working
together help meet others needs?" We are reading informational text called scarcity. It's a little story that talks about how when there was bad weather that froze all the oranges, the price of orange juice increased. Nothing like a little economics lesson embedded into our reading curriculum. ;)
Phonics skill: We are working on r controlled vowels: er, ir, and ur - It can be really hard for students to remember which vowel they need to use in their spelling words. Be sure to have them practice at home.
Comprehension Strategy: We are working on identifying facts and details. We have been taking notes identifying the facts from different non-fiction stories we have been reading.
Conventions: We are identifying singular and plural nouns.
French: We're going to read a new text "le cadre magique" about Gafi and learn combined sounds with r (dr / tr /cr...) . We will also see some vocabulary about Halloween characters by the end of the week.
Songs : We are reviewing the songs we know and try to learn a new one.
PE: We are play ing a game called "loup glace".
Math: We are reviewing the first 4 topics that we have already learned. We will be starting topic 5 which teaches place value up to 100.
