Announcements:
Spring Break was so great! We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. We are in the final push towards the end of the year. It is so important that your students are at school, on time, everyday. There is so much we still need to learn this year.
Our field trip is next Wednesday. We can take a few parent chaperones with us. Please let us know if you are interested in coming with us. Please also note that as a parent chaperone you are responsible for a group of 8 children. You will need to make sure they are seated on the bus, that they are quiet and respectful in the museum, and that you are always with them. Coming on field trips is not an opportunity for you to chat with the other parents while ignoring the students. Cell Phones should only be used if needed. We appreciate the help parents provide. Let us know if you'd like to come along.
English:
Our question of the week is, "How can we be responsible animal owners?" We will be reading, Bad Dog, Dodger! It is realistic fiction that tells a story about Sam's puppy that is always getting into trouble because of his bad behavior. We'll learn if Dodger really is bad, or if Sam can help him.Comprehension skill: We are talking about Plot and Theme. We talk about how the plot is what happens in the story. (beginning, middle, end). The theme is the main idea of the story. What is the point the author is trying to make.
Our phonics /spelling pattern: Consonant patterns: kn, wr, gn, mb
Vocabulary skill:We will continue to work in the dictionary.
Conventions: We are learning when to use I or me.
Writing skill: We are writing journal entries.
Fluency skill: expression and intonation.
