Halloween is just around the corner. We will be doing some class "parties" really more just like class activities the last 30 minutes of the day on Halloween. If your child is in the GREEN class the room parent is Aaron Wight he has made a sign up for parents who want to come in and help with the party that day. English:
This week we are on Unit 2 Week 2. Our question of the week is, "How has working together changed history?" We will be reading, Abraham Lincoln. It is informational text that tells the story of Abraham Lincoln and how he changed the United States.
Comprehension skill: We are talking about author's purpose. In 2nd grade we discuss how an author will write a story to entertain, inform or persuade.
Our phonics /spelling pattern: contractions
Conventions: We are talking about proper nouns.
Math:
We are working on Topic 4. We are continuing to work on modeling tens and ones, and using models to compare numbers. We will be using vocabulary words like before and after to identify the order of numbers. We are using symbols like greater than, less than, and equal to compare numbers. We will also be talking about odd and even numbers.
French:
This week are continuing with the /cr/ /dr/ /vr/ sounds. They are very difficult sounds to learn to pronounce correctly so we will spend another week working on them.
Social Studies:
We are working on maps, we have been identifying the continents and will be working on identifying the oceans this week.
