Yet another Weekly Update

Important Dates:

Feb 6- 5:00 DI parent meeting
Feb 7- Early out day
Feb 8- No school - Teacher work day
Feb 12- Bobcat award cut off
Feb 14- Valentines Day

Announcements:
Please note the first Bobcat Award cut off is next Tuesday.  You can email me letting me know what goals they have achieved at home, or send back their paper with the goals marked off so I can update my record at school.  If you feel that they have earned something in the Academic or Participation categories and I didn't mark it off, just let me know it was probably an oversight on my part.
   
A note went home in the red folders about Valentines Day.  We will be having a party in class, students need to bring a box from home to hold their valentines.  If they would like to bring valentines to share with the class they may, but please make sure there is one for everyone.  It is not required to bring valentines.  

English: 

Our question of the week is, "How do plants change over time?" We will be reading, The Life Cycle of a Pumpkin. It is informational text that explains the growing process from seed to pumpkin.
Writing skill: We are learning how to write a friendly letter.
Our phonics /spelling pattern: oo, u
Comprehension skill: We are learning about sequencing 
Conventions: We are learning about adjectives specifically when describing number, size, or shape
Vocabulary skill: antonyms
Fluency skill:accuracy and appropriate rate

Math:

We are still working on subtracting with regrouping, but we are also working on geometry, specifically 3-d shapes.  Topic 11 will also be assigned as online homework.  

French:

We are learning the  /g/ /j/ sounds this week.

 Science:

How does the world change?  We will begin talking about rocks.
