9/28 Minimax book orders due
10/8 No School (teacher work day)
Announcements:
- We wanted to thank you for supporting our school through the fundraiser! There is still a week left to sell entertainment books or Sally Foster.
- If you were interested in ordering the Minimax books (French books) please turn in your order forms before the 28th so we can get that order sent out.
- I've had a crazy Monday and had to copy of spelling papers three times because I've had mistakes on them. I think I finally got it right, the paper your student should practice this week is a blue paper. I also have a digital copy you can access on the right side of the blog here.
- We are finished with our initial testing for the beginning of the year. We are pleased with how our students did. We are excited to be able to really dive in and help the students where they need it the most.
English:
This week our question of the week is: What can we learn by exploring nature? We are reading a realistic fiction story,
Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night.
Our phonics skill we are working on is with consonant blends (example: ch is blended together into one sound rather than two separate sounds). We are also going to be writing a realistic fiction story about something we can do in nature.
Math:
In math we are continuing to learn addition and subtraction strategies. One thing I noticed this week is some students aren't sure how to spell the numbers in English. Today we wrote out the words one through ten. It is something you can work on at home if your student struggles with that.
French:
We are working on the ai/ ei sounds.
Science:
We are continuing to learn about animals. We are learning the
characteristics of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects, birds and
fish.
