Important Dates:
Sept 1- No School
Sept 16- CBM (reading) testing
Sept 25- Picture Day

Announcements:
One day I promise this will get posted at a reasonable hour on a Monday.  But here it is...
French book orders need to be turned in by September 19th.
If you didn't purchase your child's emergency bag through the PTA don't forget to send those in.
Reading Charts can be returned on the last day of the month. (Or close to it)

English:
We have started Reading Street, we are on Unit 1 Week 2.  Our question of the week is "What can we learn by exploring space?"  We are reading an expository text about astronauts in space.
Phonics skill: We are reviewing long vowel sounds with the silent e at the end.  We call it a VCe pattern meaning there is a vowel a consonant then the e on the end. (Don't forget the spelling list can be found on the right hand side of the blog.)
Comprehension Strategy: We are identifying the main idea and details of stories.
Conventions: We are focusing on identifying the subject of a sentence.

French: We are reviewing two more sounds from 1st grade, then we will be starting with Gafi this week.  We are still reviewing rules and routines, and practicing putting our things away neatly to keep our shared spaces clean and organized.

Math: We are still on Topic 1 "Understanding Addition and Subtraction".  We will send home information next week about getting onto successnet and completing math lessons online similar to what students did in 1st grade.
